Area of expertise

The Université de Sherbrooke RNomics Platform provides a wide range of RT-PCR services (qPCR, ASPCR, ddPCR), Next-Generation Sequencing, and bioinformatics services to the research community. We have developed an automated computational and experimental platform for large scale RT-PCR based investigations. Primary applications are for comparative gene expression studies using quantitative real-time RT-PCR (qRT-PCR), and for the annotation and analysis of alternative splicing using endpoint PCR coupled with microcapillary electrophoresis (ASPCR). We routinely design, execute and analyze thousands of PCR reactions per day. Our sequencing service is complete from library preparation, sequencing run, to data analysis and presentation. We offer a mid-throughput service range using Illumina MiSeq and NextSeq 500 platforms. Needs for deeper sequencing are referred to partner genome centers for the sequencing run itself, while we prevail on the library preparation and data analysis. Associated services include RNA and DNA isolation and quality control from cell culture and tissue sources, and extensive bioinformatics support for experimental design and data analysis. Clients can access their results and all experimental data via a secure web portal, where several computational modules are available to optimize data analysis and presentation. The Platform’s expert staff is also available for direct consultation at all stages of each project. The Platform is continually developing new assays and bioinformatics protocols to meet the needs of its expanding client base.
