Call for students, postdoctoral fellows and residents to participate in the competition - ULTRA Scientists Day and 2022 Diabetes Canada/ CSEM Professional Conference

Created in April 2012 by the Fonds de Recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS), the Research network on cardiometabolic health, diabetes and obesity (CMDO) aims to promote research excellence, knowledge development and knowledge sharing in these areas to improve the quality of life of Quebecers.

The network is calling for Masters, PhD, Postdoctoral and Resident students to participate in the ULTRA Scientists Day and 2022 Diabetes Canada/CSEM Professional Conference, to be held November 9-12, 2022 in Calgary, Canada (https://cchcsp.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/ULTRA-Day-blurb-2022-_V6.pdf and https://www.diabetes.ca/get-involved/conferences/diabetes-canada-csem-professional-conference). Master’s students, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows and residents of all regular members of the network are invited to participate in this competition. The objective of this ULTRA Scientists Day is an excellent opportunity for learners to advance their skills in patient engagement in research and intersectionality, writing a knowledge mobilization/translation plan, peer mentorship and conflict resolution. Additionally, the Pub Scientifique is back! The panelists are looking forward to discussing and answering career-related (and life-related) questions from trainees in an informal and fun setting. This will be followed by the 2022 Diabetes Canada/CSEM Professional Conference. In addition to attending lectures by leading experts in the field, participants will discuss their own research interests and activities at a high scientific level and learn about other research projects. Diabetes Action Canada and myROaD program will cover the local costs (registration for the ULTRA Scientists Day (November 9) and accommodation for two nights as well as registration for the 2022 Diabetes Canada/ CSEM Professional Conference, (personal expenses and accommodation during the Diabetes Canada and/or extended conference are not included)) of the Quebec participants selected by the CMDO Network. The Network will pay $500 per participant to reimburse a portion of the transportation costs. All other costs will be assumed by the participant and/or his/her director.

Deadline for submitting applications is September 7, 2022.

Women, Aboriginal people, visible minorities, ethnic minorities and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply. For evaluation purposes, we strive to recruit a diverse committee that reflects the profiles of the applicants and ensure an evaluation process that takes into account the particular situations of the applicants, including atypical trajectories.

The eligibility criteria and the evaluation method are described in the guide. Requests submitted late, incomplete or that do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be evaluated. Selected candidates will be contacted in september.

It is always important to read the rules and criteria before completing the Form (Open the Guide (PDF file at the top of the page) to see the detailed questionnaire).
