Metabolomics Core facility – CRCHUM (animal/human)

Name of entity

Metabolomics Core facility - CRCHUM

Entity type

Platform

Keywords

Metabolomics, metabolite, metabolism, bioanalysis, HPLC, mass spectrometry

Area of expertise

Our mission is to offer metabolite quantification services in tissues, cells and body fluids based on mass spectrometry (targeted metabolomics). Over the years, we have developed expertise focused on metabolic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. We can quantify simultaneously various key metabolites extracted from different tissues. Our assays include procedures & methods for the determination of energetic equivalents (ATP, NADH, etc.), organic acids (citrate, malate, etc.), amino acids, short-chain fatty acids, bile acids and neurotransmitters.

Services offered

Relative and absolute quantification of metabolites (targeted metabolomics) in tissues, cell samples and biological fluids by mass spectrometry. Assessed metabolites are listed below.Development of custom methods.Consultation and project design in metabolomics, as well as full assistance in the interpretation of data, drafting application for funding and publications. Our technical services are modular. Customers can participate at various steps to reduce costs: sample preparation, HPLC, results analysis, etc.Our services are offered to the community of the CHUM Research Centre, the MDRC, the CMDO and other academic and industrial institutions.List of metabolites availableNucleotides and their derivatives: adenosine, AMP, cAMP, ADP, ATP, GMP, cGMP, GDP, GTP, NAD, NADH, NADP, NADPHShort-chain acyl-CoAs: acetyl-CoA, malonyl-CoA, acetoacetyl-CoA, HMG-CoAOrganic acids and Krebs cycle derivatives: citrate/isocitrate, malate, succinate, alpha-ketoglutarate, fumarate, oxaloacetate, lactate, pyruvate, acetoacetateShort-chain fatty acids: acetic, propionic, butyric, isobutyric, valeric, isovaleric, caproic acidsBile acids: cholic (CA), deoxycholic (DCA), chenodeoxycholic (CDCA), ursodeoxycholic (UDCA), glycodeoxycholic (GDCA), glycoursodeoxycholic (GUDCA), taurocholic (TCA), taurodeoxycholic (TDCA), taurochenodeoxycholic (TCDCA), lithocholic (LCA), α-, β-, ω-muricholic (α-MCA, β-MCA, ω-MCA) acidsAmino acids and their derivatives: alanine, arginine, asparagine, carnitine, citrulline, cystine, glycine, glutamate, glutamine, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, ornithine, phenylalanine, proline, serine, taurine, threonine, tryptophane, tyrosine, valineNeurotransmitters : acetylcholine, epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine, GABA, glutamate, glycine, serotoninOthers: oxidized and reduced glutathione; DHAP, glycerol-3-phosphate, 2-phosphoglycolate
