Stephanie Fulton is interested in the neural processes that control reward and emotional states. One line of research aims to understand the neural pathways and signaling mechanisms that underlie the reward effects of food and physical activity and their contribution to obesity and metabolic diseases. Another goal is to identify the nerve and metabolic adaptations that occur in response to the consumption of high-energy foods and their role in the development of obesity and mood disorders such as depression.
